By Moira Merrel Are you stumped about which place you want to pick for your next hike? Well, look no further than the Ridges Sanctuary in Bailey’s Harbor. It is a beautiful way to spend your morning if you are an early riser with their Early Bird guided hike from 6:30-8 am on Saturdays. OR if you cannot fathom waking up that early and would still like a guided hike, there is a Logan Creek guided tour. This will be midday on Wednesdays during the summer. On both hikes, people as eager as you to see the environment will guide and surround you. If you are more of a follow your own path type of person, there are many trails that you can choose from. At your own pace and of your own choosing. Typically, people will spend around two hours hiking here because of all the amazing nature around. All trails are clearly marked and are easily accessible for any age groups. It is also friendly for people who have never hiked before, or are not keen on hard paths. Although this is true, even if you are a very experienced hiker, you can still find yourself walking around enjoying what nature has to offer. If you are wondering, “What might I see on and around these trails?” There are many variations of orchids and birds that inhabit the area. There is also a ton of geology that you can spot as well. And if you are lucky, you will find the “Hidden Boardwalk” within the sanctuary. With around 2,600 feet of boardwalk, you will find yourself walking at leisure while admiring the numerous carbon dioxide factories (trees) that span the path.
